Seth Godin is what I consider a new-age sales person, marketer, speaker, spokes person for anyone wanting to make a difference and create something special.  I recently saw him at the Art of Sales in Toronto.

9 Incredibly Shocking (and Relatively Simple) Ideas I Learned from Seth Godin

#1. 90% of people who show up at a car dealership already know everything about the car they want.  Note to Self: People are smart because they use the Internet before they buy.

#2. Selling is the transfer of emotion.  Note to Self: If I’m not emotionally engaged in what I’m selling, neither are my potential prospects.

#3. Creating and sending your message out over and over again is similar to dating someone.  Why aren’t you dating your prospects? (sending your message over and over again)

#4. Tribes: they are organized by a goal or culture

#5. There are people waiting for you to lead them (show up!)

#6. We are deeply ingrained to fit-in (with others, society, our cultures, religions, etc.)

#7. We need unique and interesting ways to solve problems (Here’s an example: More Money Now)

Start using this one tip and your writing speed will soar.  No experience necessary.

Does that sound too good to be true?

I just used this idea last week to publish a 743 word article that took me about an hour to write.  I did a final gloss and edit in about 30 minutes.

Total time = 1 hour and 30 minutes to write that article.

That’s pretty quick.

Now I don’t always write that fast, but I do think if you use this one idea I’ll share with you – you can cut your own writing time in half.

Yes, in half.

What is this great piece of advice?

I’ll share it with you in a minute.  First, I want to share with you an important distinction between someone who is a top performer – a game changer - someone is very productive versus someone who is not on their game at all.

This guy is my favorite business coach in the world.  As it stands right now I have learned more from him in the last year than I have from any other coach.  And I wouldn’t say something like that (let alone publish a blog post about him) unless it was true.
